Many girls cannot complete their education. The parents of these children also don’t find it as important for a girl to go to school because of the discrimination and bias. They don’t view girls on the same academic or social level as boys and subsequently don’t make an effort to send their child to school. People believe that these girls should just get married off and their purpose in life is over. However, many others disagree strongly with this belief including myself.
I believe that women can in fact have an education, have a career, and be just as good as men. Families neglect their daughter’s education more because they believe that their son can succeed. To help these girls finish their education, we need to make a change in our mindset. We should help many families understand that daughters can achieve the same as sons. They deserve the same education and freedom in their life as anybody else.
For example, my own mother and her two sisters could have not been given an education. However, their parents believed in them and let them pursue and complete their education, unlike many other people in that time. And those sisters became successful, all because their parents’ mindset was correct. So like these parents, many others should strive to be the same and allow their daughters the same freedom as their sons or other boys.
Help me in trying to make a meaningful difference for girl’s education,

The CRY San Diego team, along with the San Diego Youth Chapter, did an incredible job bringing the Holi event to life. The San Diego team organized the entire event from planning through execution, handling logistics, coordination, and overall flow to make sure everything ran smoothly. The Youth Chapter took full ownership of the Kids Zone, managing it from planning to execution and creating a fun, safe and engaging space for families. With around 1,400 attendees and nearly $37K raised, the impact was truly remarkable. The event was filled with exciting activities like bubble soccer, a 360 photo booth, the CRY photo booth, kids’ dance performances, corn hole, tug-of-war, and a DJ that kept the energy high. The presence of a city council member and an assembly member added special meaning to the day. Combined with beautiful sunny weather and a strong community turnout, it was a joyful and memorable celebration.

The San Diego Student Chapters did an amazing job planning and running the Cry Walk. They led weekly meetings with little need for oversight, showing strong ownership, teamwork, and leadership. All the High School chapters worked collaboratively to plan, problem-solve, and stay on track, which made everything run smoothly. They pushed and motivated each other to fundraise, reached out to their personal networks, and encouraged friends and family not only to donate but also to join the walk. On the day of the event, they organized fun and engaging activities that kept the energy high and the community involved. They raised about $7,000 while keeping expenses to just $1,000, showing how thoughtful and responsible they were. Their drive, teamwork, and impact truly make them winners.

CRY Walk NJ stands out for several compelling reasons. It was entirely designed and powered by 12 active parent-child volunteer teams. Students didn’t just participate—they conceptualized, planned, and executed every aspect. They recruited their dance teacher, Ekta Gupta, who brought a vibrant Bollywood theme and energizing Zumba workouts to the Walk.
Young volunteers like Kyra inspire others through their enthusiasm and commitment. Word of mouth spreads naturally when people see entire families engaged together, from elementary-aged children to their parents.
We have succeeded in creating powerful synergy by bringing CRYKET volunteers to support the Walk. This cross-pollination between our cricket and walk communities strengthens both initiatives and expands our volunteer network.
Our financial model is remarkably efficient. Operating expenses are minimal, covered entirely through sponsorships. Virtually every dollar raised goes directly to supporting underprivileged children in India.
This combination of family teams, youth leadership, cross-event collaboration, Bollywood energy, and financial transparency creates unforgettable impact.
